Madison - Elyn Louise Williams died on June 3, 2018 at Agrace Hospice, Fitchburg, WI. She was born on February 20, 1921, Town of Manchester, Green Lake County to William and Ida (Quade) Williams. Following education in the Randolph Schools, she graduated from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, Appleton, Wisconsin. She taught vocal music in Waupun public schools and later was employed as Music Representative for the American Book Company working in five Midwestern states. In 1949 she became Administrative Secretary of Lawrence Conservatory of Music, Appleton, leaving there in 1952 to receive a Master of Music Education degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. She came to Madison in 1955 and taught in various elementary schools and for several years served as Coordinator for Elementary Vocal Music, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, various community groups, and professional music organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Paul Knights of Meadville, PA. In recent years she was deeply grateful for the caring support of her good friend Dorothy Blotz, Godson Ted (Georgine) Quade of Waukesha, the caring staff at Sebring and Agrace Hospice, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1701 McKenna Blvd., on Wednesday June 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Philip Moldenhauer and Rev. Ryan Cortright will be officiating. Burial will be at 3 P.M. at Lake Maria Cemetery, Markesan, Wisconsin.
Memorials may be directed to the Music Fund of Our Redeemer Church or to a Madison music organization serving youth of the community.
