Elsie Fischer

Sun Prairie-Elsie Marguerite Fischer, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. She was born on February 21, 1920 in Lancaster, Ohio the daughter of E. E. & Nona (Kline) Holland. She was united in marriage with Richard M. Fischer on December 18, 1948 in Columbus, OH and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2009. Elsie lived in Columbus and Cleveland, OH, Naperville, IL, Hot Springs Village, AK, and Sun Prairie, WI since 2005. Elsie enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, golfing, and card games, especially Bridge. She was an active participant in the Ladies Auxiliary groups of her churches. She was an excellent cook noted for her baking skills and masterful crafting of decorating cakes for every occasion. Elsie was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie, WI. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Nancy) Fischer, Janet Wurster, and Beverly Fischer; her grandchildren, Jeff (Lindsay) Wurster, Kristin (Aaron) Koepke, Ashlie (James) Dodson and Jenna (Matt) Hickerson; her 6 great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank Holland; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters (Louise, Freida, Maxine and Leonette), and brother (Richard). A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Dr., Sun Prairie with Rev. Dr. David J. Berggren officiating. A time of gathering will be held at the church on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service; friends and family are welcome to gather for a luncheon at the church following the service. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Diabetes Assn. or the American Cancer Society.
