Elizabeth Thompson

WAUNAKEE-Elizabeth "Betty" Thompson, age 78, went to our Lord peacefully on April 4, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 19, 1938, to Henry and Margaret (Statz) Wipperfurth. Betty was employed with Madison Kipp Corporation until her retirement after 33 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Westport. After sharing a taxi ride with a handsome young man, she knew she met the one she would spend her life with. Betty married LeRoy A. Thompson in June of 1957. Together they enjoyed many years of up North getaways, casino adventures, so many laughs and stories, and a much-cherished family. Betty always looked forward to "girls' weekends" with family. Many incredible memories were made with each and every escapade. Betty started an annual "Cookie Day" tradition during the Christmas holidays in which so many cookies were baked with her family that it became "Cookie Weekend". We hope to honor you by continuing this tradition with your favorite recipes.

Betty is survived by her husband of sixty years, LeRoy; daughter, Katherine Thompson; son, Gary (Barb) Thompson; and daughter, Victoria (Dave) Prochaska. Betty was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren, Chad (Alex) Nachtigal, Justin Nachtigal, Bill Thompson, Caitlin Prochaska, and Matthew Prochaska. Betty is survived by her brother, Tom (Barb) Wipperfurth and sisters, Valeria (Ray, deceased) Dresen, Leona (Jack, deceased) Roberson, and her beloved little sister, Margie (Lloyd) Dresen; sister-in-law, Nancy (Herman, deceased) Wipperfurth as well as many much-loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Wipperfurth; brothers, Joe Wipperfurth and Herman Wipperfurth; and sisters, Lucy (Louie, deceased) Dresen, Angela (Donald, deceased) Grosse, and Marie Pierce.

A Memorial service will be held on Sat. April 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St Mary of the Lake Catholic Church 5460 Mary Lake Rd, Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Sat. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Trainer of the UW Carbone Cancer Center and the amazing Dr. Kristin Bradley, Radiation Oncologist for her compassion and great care. The Agrace staff's kindness and guidance will forever be remembered by our family.
