Elizabeth “Betsy” M. Drysen, 86, of Madison passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at SSM Health St. Mary’s hospital.
Betsy was born in Madison to Lionel and Helen (Cretney) Moore. She attended Nakoma grade school and later graduated from West high school. On July 19, 1963 Betsy married Jimmy Drysen, and together they had two children. Betsy worked for Ray-O-Vac, Dairyland Insurance company and 30 years with McFarland School District until her retirement in 2007.
She was a member of McFarland United Church of Christ, East Side Club, and Monona Senior Center. Betsy also volunteered for several years at the Zor Shrine Stand for UW-Wisconsin football games.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards and trips to the casino, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grand friends. Betsy also enjoyed grand times with Dairyland Birthday Club, Red Hats, McFarland School District gatherings and get-together with special high school friends.
She is survived by her children, Michelle (Ed Endl) Blaskowski, Mike Drysen; sister and best friend, Katherine Holm; sister-in-law, Shirley Moore; nieces, Debra Holm, Linda Moore; nephews, Peter Moore, Garry (Pam) Moore, and David Moore. Extended family in the Netherlands include, Maudy Titaley, Renny (Gerard) Drijsen, Freddie (Annie) Drijsen, Ingrid (Boudewign) Byleveld, Rudy (Margie) Drijsen, Joop (Debbie) Drijsen, Harry (Amy) Drijsen, and Heidi Drijsen.
Betsy is preceded in death by her parents, Lionel and Helen Moore; husband, Jimmy Drysen; brother, Richard Moore; father-in-law, Johan Drijsen; mother-in-law, Pauline Johanna Vaasen; brother-in-law, Roy Holm; nieces, Donna (Dennis) Hilgendorf, Diane (Rich) Seim; sister-in-law, Tilly Beams; brother-in-law, Simon Titaley; and niece-in-law, Phyllis Moore.
A funeral will take place at 11AM on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Cress Funeral Service, 5801 Highway 51, McFarland, WI 53558. A visitation will take place from 9AM until the time of service. A burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Monona at 2PM.
Memorials can be made in Betsy name to McFarland United Church of Christ or Agrace Hospice.
