Stoughton- Elizabeth C. Burtness, age 98, passed away at Skaalen Home in Stoughton on Saturday, March 31, 2012. She was born in Stoughton on March 16, 1914, a daughter of John and Hannah (Quam) Lund. On February 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Mervin Burtness. Elizabeth was a lifelong Stoughton resident, a member of First Lutheran Church, a member of church circles, a Sunday school teacher, a seamstress and a nursery school teacher. Elizabeth was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Craig) Chiaverotti; 3 grandsons, Josh (Lindsey), Casey (Beth Anderson), and Jacob Chiaverotti; and a sister, Clarice Chrisler. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mervin; a sister, Audrey; and a brother, Oscar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Skaalen Chapel, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery in Stoughton. Following services, a luncheon reception will be held at the Skaalen Friendship Room. The family will greet friends at Skaalen Chapel on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service, at 11:00am.
