Madison- Elizabeth "Betty" Bridge, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025. She was born in State College, PA on June 10, 1930, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Hughes.
Betty grew up in State College with lots of family and friends. In 1948 she moved to Madison and met the love of her life, Mervin Bridge. On December 9, 1950 they were married at Bethel Lutheran Church where Betty remained a devoted member for 75 years.
Betty enjoyed raising her family, playing cards with her Bridge group, gardening, doing crafts, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and Bethel food pantry, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. Betty had a great sense of humor and loved being around people. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends and looked forward to attending the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her three children, Doug (Holly) Bridge, Diane (Bill) Dawson, and Debbie; eight grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merv, in 2013; and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison, with Rev. David Wrightsman officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery following the lunch. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Food Pantry.
