Madison: Eleanor V. Spurley, age 99, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, February 11, 2017. She was born June 17, 1917 in Brownsville, PA. Eleanor met and married James V. Spurley while serving in the US Army at Fort Baer in Ft Wayne IN. They later settled in Madison in 1952. Eleanor prided herself in being a fulltime wife and mother. She will forever be remembered for her love of playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and her homemade cookies. Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Wrzesinske, and Karen (Tom) Wacek, and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James, daughter Sharline Rice, son Jimmy, and grandson Buddy Koch. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the CRESS CENTER, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Cress Center, with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service. Please share a memory.
