Eleanor Lauten

DES PLAINES - Eleanor C. "Norie" Lauten (nee Sum) was born on October 18, 1927 in Chicago, IL to George and Bertha (nee Mix) Sum. She died Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Madison, WI.
Eleanor attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI. In addition to raising her two daughters, she worked in retail, first in the engraved stationary section of Marshall Fields, and in later years as a manager with Kmart. She was an avid supporter of the drum and bugle corps activity and fan of the Madison Scouts. She could often be heard yelling, "Fire Up!" from the stands.
Eleanor is survived by her beloved daughters, Patricia A. Lauten, Mary E. Lauten, cherished son-in-law, Perron Nicholas, and "gran-dogs" Riley and Bella.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Lauten, brothers Robert N. Sum, George C. Sum Jr., and her parents.
A celebration of Eleanor's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 18th, 2014 at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines, IL 60016. Friends and family may call from 9:30 until time of service. Inurnment will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 700 N. River Rd., Des Plaines, IL 60016. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to WAGS (Wisconsin Academy for Graduate Service Dogs).
