MADISON -"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine."

Elaine McDonald (Bakke) passed away on Saturday, April 1st, 2017, at the age of 93. She was a passionate, kind, and spirited woman. She will be remembered for many things, including her incredible artistic talents, her beautiful musical inclinations, and her love of children. As the owner of her own pre-school, Parkwood Hills, in Madison, she was able to embrace the things she loved. After retiring, she poured her love and talents into her family.

She is survived by her children, Nanci (Rich Kaczmarek), and Eric (Bonnie Heitner). Her adoring grandchildren Kelly (Laura Bronson), Mindy, Chrissy (David Walsh), Rion, Angelica, Nicholas, Alexandra, Francesca, Kori, and Madelyn. She is further survived by her beautiful great-grandchildren and her sister in-law Helen Bakke and her children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Westye and Mary Lee Bakke, her brother Lawrence C. "Bud" Bakke and three of her loving children, Jaime Bronson, Tina Heitner, and Timothy Heitner. We find great comfort in knowing she is reunited with the people she loved and missed so dearly.

A memorial will be held for family and friends at 2:00 PM on Friday April 14, 2017 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, A visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Our Nana was more than a mother and grandmother. She was a fierce and brave woman, a stand-in mother when needed, an amazing storyteller, a true lover of all living things, and a brilliant four-leaf clover finder. She made the sun shine and it is with great hope that her light will continue to brighten each coming day.
