Elaine Dewulf

May 25, 1942 — December 15, 2012

After a valiant, 13-month battle with cancer, Elaine Agnes De Wulf, age 70, passed away on December 15, 2012, at home in Waunakee, WI surrounded by her family.
She was born May 25, 1942, in Stanberry, MO, the daughter of Edward and Yvonne (Deiter) Klaas. Elaine was raised by her grandparents, Clyde and Agnes Deiter. She attended Stanberry High School and Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, KS. Upon graduation, she taught the primary grades in the Milwaukee Public School District and for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. She also received a certificate in Montessori education.
In 1967, Elaine married Dr. Joseph De Wulf, and together they raised six children in Mequon, WI. They were active in dental organizations, church functions and their children's sports and school activities. They were drawn to the Madison area in 2004 by the desire to be closer to family.
Elaine enjoyed watercolor painting, book clubs, Scrabble competitions, and traveling. She also was a long time, avid collector and dealer in antiques and former president of the Wisconsin Antiques Dealers Association. Active at St. John the Baptist parish, she was a member of the Facilities Committee during the planning and construction phase of the present church. She was also active in parish ministry and a member of the Madison Catholic Women's Club.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Elaine's life was characterized by selflessness, grace and kindness. Her positive spirit provided ideal comfort to those around her, and we are blessed to know that she is experiencing the same in Heaven.
Survivors include her husband, Joe, and their children: Julie (Jay) Redders of Middleton, WI; Jenny (Andy) Smith of Austin, TX; Jodi (Alex) McKelvey of Waunakee, WI; Jamie (Brad) Logsdon of Middleton, WI; Jeremy De Wulf of Appleton, WI; and Jonathan De Wulf of Madison, WI. She is further survived by eight grandchildren: A.J., Jordan and Jenna Redders; Roxanne and Owen Smith; Cooper and Taggart McKelvey; and Jack Logsdon; a sister Rose Marie Esch; numerous nephews and nieces; and other loving relatives and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee at 11 AM on Fri., Dec. 21, 2012, co-celebrated by Msgr. James Gunn and Fr. Dave Johannes.
