MADISON- Edward "Ed" Frank Zevnik, 79, husband of Darlene Zevnik, died May 20th, 2015 in Madison, WI.
Born in 1935 in Stevens Point, WI, he was the son of the late Frank and Eleanor Zevnik. He graduated from Middleton High School, where he was part of the championship football team in 1953. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ed worked as a plumber for more than 40 years and owned and operated his own plumbing business, E-Z Plumbing Co. Inc., which his son-in law Scott Riley continues to operate today. He built his family's house on Segoe Road where he and his wife and children lived for 47 years. The house was always a favorite gathering spot for many neighborhood events and pig roasts. He had many beloved dogs throughout his life including his last dog Chanelle. Ed belonged to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church for over 50 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved visiting and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He also enjoyed cooking, hunting and fishing, polka music, and watching UW hockey.
In addition to Darlene, his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his children, Jim, of Madison, WI; Jane, of Eugene, OR, and her three children Michelle, Samuel, and Rachel; Jill, and her husband Scott Riley, of Verona, WI, and their three children, Jessica (and her husband Robert Hansberry and son Riley), Jenna, and Joe; and Jean, and her husband Andy Lucas, of Leawood, KS, and their two children Jack and Kate. He is also survived by his three sisters, Dorothy Swintosky, of Nicholasville, KY; Rosemary, and her husband George Petrich, of Burnham, IL; and Nancy, and her husband Tom Malone, of Heyworth, IL. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Joseph Swintosky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. with Msgr. Kenneth J. Fiedler presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at church on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until time of the Mass.
