Edward Mell

Sun Prairie - Edward A. Mell, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in Kendall, WI. He was born on November 10, 1938, in Madison, WI, the son of Arnie and Evelyn (Eber) Mell. Edward was united in marriage to Janice Bedward on August 8th, 1959.

Before retirement, Eddie worked for Foulke Rubber and then Pomp's Tire Service. During his free time, he enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his family, from planting a garden to hunting and fishing. He also loved sports, spending many years bowling, coaching softball, and pitching horseshoes. When the weather kept him indoors, he enjoyed Western books and movies.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Mell; children, Cheryl (David) Peterson of Madison, Daryl Mell of Sun Prairie, and Darrin (Geoffrey Asklof) Mell of Ames, Iowa; sister Sandy Kussmaul; brother, Burnell (Mae) Swenson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Kurt Swenson, and a brother, Alan Mell.

A funeral service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
