Edward Killeen

Madison - Edward F. Killeen passed away March 19, 2017.
Ed was born on December 29, 1930, in Schenectady, New York. He was the third of five sons born to Louis and Catherine Fagan Killeen. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School '50, Middlebury College '54 and the University of Virginia Law School '57. Killeen's business career started with General Electric, AO Smith Corp. and Wisconsin Power & Light from which he retired in January, 1994, as Vice President of Administration & Planning.

Ed was active all his life in community activities that promoted education and equal economic activities. In Auburn, NY, he served on the board of Booker T. Washington Community Center, the United Way Agency Evaluation Committee and Boy Scouts of America Health & Safety Committee. In Kankakee, IL, he was President of Co-Op Job Opportunity, Inc. a Chamber of Commerce program for students at risk, President of Taft School PTO and a Cub Scout Master. In Louisville, KY, he served as an Elevator Industry Trustee for the Elevator Industry National Affirmative Action Program. In Madison, WI, he served as Chairman of the Council of Associates for Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges, served on the committee on Health Care Cost Management, served on the state committee to promote labor-management cooperation, Chair of the WMC Committee on Health Care Cost Management, served on the citizen committee to the UW School of Education and served on the Board of Family Services.

Since moving to Prairie Point, Ed has been President of the Prairie Point Association and served as Chair of the Finance Committee and has worked on various projects for the betterment of the Association.

Ed enjoyed life and will be remembered by his family and friends as always having a smile, a twinkle in his eye and a word of encouragement. He especially enjoyed the many accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. They were "TERRIFIC" as was every day to him.

Killeen was preceded in death by his wife LuAnn Goerke Killeen. He married Nancy Cole Steinhoff in 2004. He and Nancy are UW Basketball fans and enjoy travel, the theater, music, books and dinner with friends at Attic Angel - Prairie Point and in Door County. Ed is survived by his wife Nancy and their children, Edward (Ted) Killeen, Jr. (fiancée Sherry Haden-Buntin) of Clinton, TN; Heather Stanton of Madison; Terrence Killeen of Aiken, SC; Sarah Killeen (Valerie) of Hibbing, MN; KimberlyAnne Meller (Harry) of Sheboygan, WI; Kari Sides (Robert) of Racine, WI; and one granddaughter Chelsea (Armando) Sandoval; and step-grandchildren Beth Davis, Cody Brackett, Maxwell and Cole Meller and Samuel and Jack Sides. Ed is also survived by one brother, Larry and his wife Peggy of Delaware and Florida, sisters-in-law Fran and Phyllis and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at ATTIC ANGEL PLACE, 8301 Old Sauk Rd, Madison, WI, on Sunday June 11, 2017 at 2 p.m, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Attic Angel Place, 8301 Old Sauk Rd, Middleton, WI 53562 or Tidewell Hospice, 3355 26th Street W, Bradenton, FL 34205.
