Edward Dover

OVERLAND PARK, KS/SUN PRAIRIE, WI--Edward L. Dover, age 17, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018. Edward came into this world facing many challenges. For 17 years, he confronted and defied them with laughter, love, and grace. He encountered many special people along the way who helped him love, grow, and live life to the fullest.

Edward loved school from the time he started preschool at 3 months until his last days at Sun Prairie High School. He would squeal with anticipation when the bus pulled up to take him to see his friends. He loved going out into the community to the library, to the grocery store, and swimming at Prairie Athletic Center. He loved hanging out on the Memorial Union Terrace watching people and sailboats. He loved riding in his van jamming to Steve Miller Band. He couldn't wait to go bowling with his friends at Special Olympics. He squealed in delight at the simplest of things....tearing Velcro, opening boxes, ripping packing tape, and crinkling bubble wrap. He loved music especially piano, watching the diggers, and spending time with his people. He loved every minute of his life.

Edward is survived by his parents Michelle and Peter; siblings Max, Elizabeth (Josh), Margaret, Ben, Patrick, and Grace; grandparents Dan and Mary Salyards, John and Kathleen Mahaney, and Marian Kienitz; and great-grandmother Phoebe Walter. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, other relatives, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his father Mark Dover and his paternal grandparents Joseph and Marjorie Dover.

Our family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the teachers, aides, therapists at Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School and Sun Prairie High School; the staff at American Family Children's Hospital especially the doctors and nurses in the Pediatric Complex Care Clinic; and the compassionate caregivers at Agrace HospiceCare. We also give special thanks to his amazing caregivers, Erika, Catherine, Megan, and Cecelia.

A Celebration of Edward's Life will be held from 1-4:00 PM on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, 330 Femrite Drive, Monona, WI 53716. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Edward's honor are welcome to Agrace HospiceCare, Aldo Leopold Nature Center, and the Penguin Project of the Sun Prairie Community Theatre.

Edward was truly joy and love incarnate. He would want us to take care of each other, be excellent to each other, and make this world a better place every day.
