Edsel Gusman

Madison/Stoughton- Edsel E. Gusman, age 84, died on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare surrounded by his family. He was born in Pike Lake, WI on December 16, 1929, the son of Henry and Thelma (Eastling) Gusman. Edsel grew up in Wausau and graduated from Wausau High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country for six years where he became a pioneer in the computer field. After the Marine Corps Edsel qualified for Top Gun in the Air Force. Following his honorable discharge Edsel returned home to his sweetheart, Jessie Kruit, and on October 5, 1957 they were married. Together they raised three daughters, living in Omaha, NE and then settling in Madison. Edsel worked as a computer field engineer for Burroughs Corp., which later became UNISYS, for 35 years. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, and researching and writing genealogy. Edsel is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jessie; three daughters, Renee (Jim) Kermath, Patti (Kevin) Mortland and Christine Gusman-Ciesla; three grandchildren, Andrew, Lindsay and Hannah; two sisters, Arlene and Nancy Gusman; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Christopher Ciesla. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the services, at the Stoughton American Legion. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of services Wednesday at Cress. Memorials may be made to Stoughton Baptist Church or Agrace HospiceCare Inc.
