Edna Lyster

August 23, 1915 — March 1, 2018

SUN PRAIRIE--Edna "Onie" E. (Chase) Lyster, age 102, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 . She was born in Sun Prairie on August 23, 1915 to Benjamin John Chase and Edith Crosse Chase. She graduated in 1932 from Sun Prairie High School, attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and in 1935, she graduated from Marquette University from the Dental Hygienist Program.

Edna worked as a dental hygienist for Dr.'s Peetz, Seybold, and Helvey in Madison for 33 years. She also worked for Parkview Dental in Sun Prairie for 27 years retiring in 1995.

Edna was involved in the Sun Prairie Business and Professional Women's Club, serving as President and Treasurer. She participated in a tutoring reading program with Sun Prairie grade school students. She also was a faithful helper with church bulletins at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church.

In December of 1938, she married Harold "Mike" Lyster, who preceded her in death in 1968. Her survivors include their son, Michael (Linda) Lyster; three granddaughters Miranda (Michael) Foy, Natalie (Zack Lang) Lyster, and Corrina Lyster; and three great-grandchildren Brenna and Blake Foy and Mikayla Lang. She is further survived by many other nieces, nephews and other relatives whom she dearly loved. Edna is preceded in death by her husband; parents; 7 brothers and sisters Ellen Virchow, Jeanette Wyant, Theodore Chase, Ruth Maley, Charlotte Anthon, Eunice Chase, and James Chase; brother-in-law Norman (Naoma) Lyster; and sisters-in-law Lucille Vick and Esther Anderson.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 AM on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 221 Columbus St, Sun Prairie. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 11:30 AM with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will follow at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Sacred Hearts Church or Wisconsin Council of the Blind.
