Edna Illgen

Deerfield - Edna Jean Illgen, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Brookdale North Assisted Living. She was born on January 10, 1938 in Madison, Wisconsin the daughter of Paul and Myrtle (Christianson) Haustad. She married Arnold Illgen on August 13, 1966 in Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Since 1966 Edna and Arnold lived and raised a family in Deerfield. Her greatest pleasures in life were watching TV with her cats especially the soap Young and the Restless. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoying cocktails and cards.

Edna is survived by her children, daughter, Renee McAllister and son, Arnold Illgen II; grandchildren Stephanie (Chad Wayne) Hipwood, Joel Illgen, Alexandria McAllister; great grandson, Zachary Hipwood; sister Lorraine Punsel; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Husband Arnold in 1997; brothers Melvin and Julian Haustad; sisters Doris (Robert) Gross, and Irene (Robert) Bergmann; brother in-law Merle Punsel; and grandson Christopher Hipwood.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Rd, Deerfield. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday. She will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens, next to her husband. Friends and family are invited to a meal following the services at the church education center.
