Edgar Allen Reeves Jr was born on May 1, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to Cleodia Davis and Edgar Allen Reeves Sr.

He received his early education at Burnside Elementary School and later graduated from Harlem High School at the age of 17. Shortly after graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1972, where he faithfully served his country for three years before being honorably discharged in 1975.

Later that year, Edgar married Renee Reeves. From this union, they were blessed with four children: Renee Yolanda Mackey, David Allen Reeves, Daniel Allen Reeves, and Demetrius Allen Reeves. Edgar later welcomed two more children, Akya Gossitt and Raphael Long.

In 1990, Edgar relocated to Madison, Wisconsin, where he began a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service. Through years of hard work and commitment, he retired in 2015.

Edgar faced significant health challenges with strength and resilience. After being diagnosed with lung cancer, he courageously fought and went into remission in 2020. Though the cancer later returned in 2023 as lung and brain cancer, he continued to show remarkable perseverance.

In December 2023, he found love again and married Debra Gossitt-Reeves, who remained by his side until death. From this union, he gained two bonus daughters, Shayante Gossitt (Shay) and Shaniya Scales.

Edgar was a beloved father, uncle, family member, and friend.

He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, his strong work ethic, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His presence, guidance, and generosity touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Edgar leaves to cherish his memory his loving and dedicated wife, Debra Gossitt-Reeves; his devoted children, Renee Yolanda Mackey, David Reeves, Daniel Reeves, Demetrius Reeves, Ralphael Long (Dione), and Akya Gossitt. His bonus children, Shayante Gossitt (Jameir) and Shaniya Scales. His siblings are Larry Reeves, Bernard Reeves, Cathy Miles, and James Miles (fatz), 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 19 nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family members, friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents Cleodia, Davis and Edgar Allen Reeves Sr and his brother, Michael Davis.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 21 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, from 11 am until the time of service at 12 pm.
