Earl Linderud

February 28, 1923 — August 24, 2012

Stoughton - Earl Junior Linderud, age 89, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. He was born February 28, 1923 to Earl Sr. "Pops" and Margaret Linderud. He graduated from Stoughton Senior High School with the class of 1941. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a surgical technician in New Guinea. When Earl "Junior" came home from the service he went to work at Hub City Recreation for Mr. Welch as the co-manager. In 1949 he purchased the business with his parents. He later went to work at Uniroyal where he worked for 28 years, retiring in 1988. Earl married Clarice Sime on February 16th, 1950. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Together they have five children; Dorothy, David, Steve, Nancy and Corinne. Earl enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and playing cards with them. He also enjoyed golfing at Coachman's, bowling on Tuesdays with his wife and friends on senior day and he was a regular at the Koffee Kup where everyone knew his name and his smile. Earl will be missed by all who knew him. Earl is survived by his wife Clarice; his children, Dorothy (Mark) Bechel, David (Cathy) Linderud, Nancy Linderud, Steve Linderud and Corinne (Darrell) Jones; his grandchildren, Angela Nihles, Melinda Gavin, David Gavin, Krista (Ian) Beniston, Jared Linderud and Andrew Bechel; his great grandson, Max Nihles; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Sr. and Margaret Linderud; sisters, Betty Tyrrell, Arleen Burtness and Kathleen Wisden; brother, Wesley Linderud; and grandson, Michael Linderud. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Stoughton United Methodist Church, 525 Lincoln Avenue, Stoughton, with Rev. Dawn Jeffers Ramstad officiating. Burial, with full Military honors, will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon reception in the church fellowship hall, following the burial. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and from 12 noon until the time of services Wednesday at the church. The Linderud family would like to thank the caring staff at Agrace HospiceCare Inc. in helping to fulfill Earl's wish to remain at home and for their support to our family.
