E. Spengler

Madison - E. Thomas Spengler, age 90, passed away in the afternoon on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Oakwood West. Tom was born on September 15th, 1924 in Shannon, IL to the late Frank and Clara Spengler. He graduated from Shannon High School in 1942. He attended Bradley College in Peoria, IL for 1 year before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He married his honey girl, June Coppernoll, on October 27th, 1945. Together they celebrated 69 years of marriage. Upon completion of his military service, he started as a distributor for 7-UP Bottling Company, eventually becoming President of 7-UP Bottling Company in Madison, retiring in September of 1984. Tom enjoyed watersports, fishing, antiquing, traveling the world with June, and enjoying time with family and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife June, three sons; Stephen of Madison, Tom of Seattle, WA; and Robert of Tucson, AZ, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends may call at Cress Funeral Home (3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI) on Saturday, November 29th, 2014. A visitation will take place from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Kevin Butler presiding. Tom will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery following the funeral service.
