Madison - E. Arthur "Al" Prieve, 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 19, 2014 with his daughter by his side. He was born June 7, 1933 in Princeton, WI to the late Arthur and Regina (Klapper) Prieve. He attended the University of Wisconsin Madison-School of Business, where he earned his BBA and MBA. He met his future wife Mary Jo at a friends' wedding. They were married on June 29, 1963 and celebrated 50 years of marriage. Al's continuing education took him to George Washington University in Washington D.C., where the couple's first child, Michael, was born. The couple stayed in Washington D.C. until 1965, upon which time Al joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin Madison-School of Business. His daughter Michele was born shortly after this, in 1969. Throughout his 33 year career at U.W. Madison, Al was the Chair of the Management Department, founded The Bolz Center for Arts Administration, and launched the weekend Executive MBA Program as Director.
Al is survived by his loving wife Mary Jo, son Michael (partner Anceert), daughter Michele (Brendon) Wilkinson, grandson Jack Wilkinson, granddaughter Parker Wilkinson, sister Delores (Duane) Lindow, special caregiver Henry Huemmer, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-father Bernard Grahn and one brother, Arnold Prieve.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Parish (602 Everglade Dr. Madison, WI 53711) on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 4:00 - 6:00pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 6:00pm with Father Bart Timmerman presiding, followed by a meal and remembrances in the Church hall.
