Dwaine Dickinson

Verona - Dwaine W. Dickinson age 87, passed peacefully at home from cancer on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012. Dwaine was born in Richmond, Indiana, Sept. 22, 1925, to Edna (Woombill) and Laurel Dickinson. He was trained as a World War II bombardier after which he entered UW-Madison where he was a champion boxer and met the love of his life, Donna Jean Loehnis and married her on June 11, 1949. Upon graduation, in 1950, he instructed veterans in farming. This was the start of his career in agribusiness and a long term relationship with Wisconsin farmers. In retirement he continued this relationship creating an agribusiness tax service. Dwaine was a boxer, a teacher, a loving husband, a devoted father, a dear brother and a loyal friend. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, cute poems, dancing, guitar strumming and amazing capacity to give love. Dwaine's life was totally devoted to loving Donna, his wife of 64 years and his strong connection with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who miss him dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; six children, Maureen (Jose) Menendez, Sharon (Mike) Edwards, Terry (Rosalinda) Dickinson, Keith (Debbie) Dickinson, Christine (Kerry) McCollum, Jean (Carlos) Carrasquillo; sixteen grandchildren, Brandi Mueller, Jenni Foster, Matt Edwards, Rick Edwards, Shannon Dickinson, Nick Dickinson, Sean Dickinson, Ryan Dickinson, Brian Dickinson, Marie McCollum, Sarah McCollum, Jake McCollum, Kelly McCollum, Sean McCollum, Jessica Morrall, and Keith King; six great grandchildren, Steven Morrall, Jason Morrall, Sarah Morrall, Ethan Mueller, Violet Mueller, and Maddi Ramsey; his brother, Dwight Dickinson and sisters, Diane Dickinson Schultz, Donna Dickinson Meltesen, Debbie Dickinson Jameson, Deanna Dickinson Budion. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Dickinson; an older brother, Don Dickinson; an infant brother, Darrell Dickinson; and a grandson, Matthew Dickinson.
A celebration of Dwaine's life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Friends may greet the family from 10am until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service.
