Duane A. Anderson (Duey), a lifelong resident of Stoughton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 7, 1954, in Stoughton, where he lived his entire life and built countless friendships and memories.
Duane grew up with a deep love for the country and spent countless hours working on his extended family’s farm, where many of his favorite memories were made. Those days — spent alongside family, friends, and cousins — helped shape his strong work ethic, something he carried with him throughout his life.
Beyond his love for the countryside, Duane had a lifelong passion for cars and trucks — especially a good-looking Chevy. His vehicles were always kept immaculate, something that mattered greatly to him. Cruising down Main Street, meeting up with friends, and showing off their rides was more than a pastime; it was a source of connection and camaraderie.
Family was always at the center of Duane’s life. Some of his most treasured times were weekends spent at his parents’ house — gathered around the kitchen table playing cards, drinking coffee, telling stories, and enjoying meals together. Those were the simple moments he truly cherished.
Above all else, Duane’s greatest joy was his daughter, Renee, whom he loved unconditionally and will forever be daddy's little girl. He also loved his son-in-law, Kevin, whom he instantly welcomed as a son of his own. That love only deepened when he became a grandpa. Duane adored his grandsons, Kaden and Kellan, and treasured every moment spent with them. Being their grandpa brought him immense happiness and purpose — and it was during those years that he earned the nickname “Grandpa Cane,” a name that stuck and was worn with pride.
One of Duane’s proudest accomplishments was becoming a homeowner. After years of dedication and hard work, having a place of his own meant everything to him. It gave him the freedom to live independently, and his home reflected that — carefully maintained and kept just the way he liked it.
A true people person, Duane found joy in conversation, connection, and made everyone feel welcome. Despite lifelong health challenges, Duane faced every obstacle with heart and grit, always determined to remain independent — something that meant a great deal to him and inspired many along the way. His legacy is one of strength, pride, and perseverance.
Duane is survived by his daughter, Renee M. Stokstad; son-in-law, Kevin S. Stokstad; grandsons, Kaden D. Stokstad and Kellan J. Stokstad; brother, Mark (Carol) Anderson; and sisters, Cheryl (Terry) Flood, Christi (Dave) Pronold, and Amy Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine Anderson and Arnold Anderson, and his sister, Beth Anderson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday December 23, 2025 at THE LAGERET, 515 E. Main St. Stoughton. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery South. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service at The Lageret on Tuesday.
You will be missed immensely, we love you Grandpa Cane.
