Dr. Katherine "Ann"
Ferguson
Jun 19, 1946 — Jul 2, 2026
Dr. Katherine Antonia (“Ann”) Ferguson, age 80, of Middleton, Wisconsin, passed away on July 2, 2026. She was born on June 19, 1946, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Edwin and Alice (Jewell) Ferguson.
Ann received undergraduate degrees at Sarah Lawrence College (Liberal Arts in 1968) and the University of Washington (Cell Biology in 1975). She studied the oboe seriously for many years in New York City and Seattle and developed a love for many kinds of music.
An interest in the medical field led her to enter George Washington Medical School. She graduated in 1979 and pursued a career as a psychiatrist in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In 2021 she moved to Wisconsin.
Ann suffered from a form of dementia. She hopes her personal experience and interest in neurologic movement disorders will encourage people to support further research and treatment of these serious diseases.
Aside from her interest in the oboe and music, her other interests include baking Austrian cakes, swimming and traveling.
Ann is survived by her nephew Drew Ferguson, close friend Margaret (“Peg”) Both, and several relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Edwin (“Ned”) Ferguson.
A celebration of life is being planned for both Madison and Vienna, VA, and will be announced soon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Lewy Body Dementia Association or the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
Please share your memories of Ann by posting in her guestbook.
