MADISON - Dr. Lawrence "Larry" A. Fleming passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 30, 2017 after battling Lewy Body Dementia. Larry was born July 26, 1945 in Peoria, IL to Gerald G and Patricia (Maloney) Fleming.
Larry received his undergraduate degree from University of Maryland and his M.D. from the University of Maryland Medical School. In addition, he earned an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
Larry did his residency and internship at University of Maryland. He then served as a flight surgeon for the US Army in the 3rd of the 5th Air Cavalry. Following his service in the Army, he returned to the University of Maryland to serve as Chief Resident for 1 year. Larry was in private practice for several years in Rochester, NY before moving the family to Madison in 1979. He became the first Medical Director of U-Care later to become Unity HMO. During his 35 plus year career at the UW Hospital and Clinics, he became a beloved caregiver, friend and coworker to many in the community.
Larry is survived by his wife, Jonne; his twin brother Gerald B Fleming; daughter, Amanda (Larry) Megan and their children Hannah, Timmy, Emily and Joshua of Buffalo, NY; and sons Drew (Sarah Stewart) Fleming and their children Maxine, Charlotte and Julian of Madison, WI; and son Jerry Fleming.

A visitation will be held at Cress Center, 6021 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53705 on Sunday September 3, 2017 from 3:00-7:00 pm.
