Dr. Buchanan

Madison - We are sorry to say that Dr. Daro A. Buchanan died on Sept. 5th, 2016 at the age of 90. Married to his loving wife Betty Buchanan (Rietz) for 65 years, he was the father of 3 children; Dr. David (Julie) Buchanan, Jim (Sherry) Buchanan, Jodi (Brian) Schiro; grandfather to 9 grandchildren; Erin, Kyle, David, Cullen, Ryley, Braeden, Adam, Julie, and Kevin, great-grandfather to 7; loving brother to 2 siblings; Dr. Keith (Sandy) Buchanan, and Mary (Bob) Schultz, a brother-in-law to Bill Rietz, and a friend to many.

Daro was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Margaret Buchanan and a sister, Carol Heckman.

He was a life-long resident of Madison where he practiced dentistry for 42 years and was involved in numerous community projects. Perhaps you knew him as your dentist, your neighbor, a country club member, a coffee clutch partner, hunting buddy, a Little League President, a skip on the curling team, or that guy next to you at the black jack table. There is great sadness in our hearts because we love him and will miss him so much. What wonderful lasting memories we have of him and all the good things he did for us and for others. He always seemed to do the right thing at the right time for the right reasons.

Please join us in a celebration of Daro's life at Blackhawk Country Club, 3606 Blackhawk Dr, Madison, WI 53705, on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016. A visitation will begin at 1pm followed by a short service at 2pm.
