Dorothy L. Zekas

Madison -- Dorothy L. Zekas, age 93, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2010, in Oregon, WI. She was born on January 10, 1917 in Stevens Point, WI, the daughter of Henry and Bernice (Smith) Verweyst. She was united in marriage in 1944 to John Zekas in Madison.

 

A beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothy dedicated her life to her family. Her patience, unconditional love and selfless devotion to family and friends was inspirational. She is survived by her daughter, April (Jim) Johnson; grandchildren, Kimberly Henige, Tamara (Chad) Hull, Niki (Steve) Wagner, Carl (Amy) Johnson and Jay Samuelson; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Olson and extended family and friends.

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; son, Bruce Zekas; a daughter, Janis Samuelson; and her brother, Bernie Verweyst.

 

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sienna Crest, Oregon Manor, and Hospice Care where Dorothy was tenderly cared for in her last months.

 

A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
