Dorothy Zehr

Pontiac, IL/Stoughton- Dorothy M. Zehr, age 85, of Pontiac, IL, formerly of Stoughton, died on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the ASTA Care Center of Pontiac, IL. She was born on February 16, 1927 in Stoughton, a daughter of Olaf M. and Marie A. (Severson) Hanson. Dorothy was educated in Stoughton schools. She married Harold J. Zehr on December 25, 1951 in Stoughton. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2000. She worked from 1969 until 1992 at Ringier Printing Company in Pontiac as a film handler. Dorothy loved reading and the outdoors. She was an avid gardener and animal lover. She is survived by two sons, Dale M. (Diane) Hanson of Stoughton, and James A. Zehr Sr. of Pontiac, IL; three grandchildren, Rebecca A. Zehr, Daniel R. Zehr and James A. Zehr Jr.; and one brother, James O. Hanson of Stoughton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Obert H. Hanson and Palmer E. Hanson. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of services Wednesday. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Stoughton.
