Stoughton - Dorothy Louise Wilcox (Hanson) passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at Stoughton Meadows Assisted Living Facility. Dorothy was born on 4/20/1941 to Margaret & Harry “Bud” Hanson in Stoughton, WI. She attended school in Stoughton, WI & graduated from Stoughton Senior High School in 1959. She attended University at Menominee Stout and UW-Madison. She married Myron Henry Wilcox Jr in 1961.
Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, attending quilt shows, Hardanger stitching, knitting & all things Norwegian as she was the Syttende Mai Queen 1986. Her occupations thru the years included MATC instructor, working at the The Yarn Nook & Insurance Agent.
Dorothy has 3 daughters Anne (Mark) Maki Pewaukee, WI, Kirsten (John) Meier Holmen, WI, Marcia (Brad) Gavinski Mesa, AZ. She lived & raised her family predominantly in Stoughton. Dorothy’s grandchildren include Hannah Kvalheim and Maggie (Jake) Janssen & one great grandchild Kobe, and sister Barb Irwin (Jerry Krueger).
She is preceded in death by Baby Wilcox, her parents, many cousins & classmates.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday February 26, 2026, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 206 W. Prospect St. Stoughton, WI 53589. A luncheon will follow the service at Heron Hall at the Stoughton Wellness & Athletic Center, 2300 US Highway 51, Stoughton. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service at the funeral home on Thursday. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the family & we will be organizing a memoriam gift in Dorothy’s name to Stoughton Meadows Assisted Living and Bristol Hospice. Special thanks to the caring staff at Stoughton Meadows and the comfort care from Bristol Hospice. Especially Nurse Stephanie. We appreciate all the compassionate care.
The family would like to acknowledge her Niece Stephanie Wanninger & Evie Wunnicke as amazing helpers & friends.
