Dorothy Walsh

December 19, 1932 — September 7, 2022

Monroe

Dorothy Theresa Walsh (Dottie Schubis) passed peacefully at the Monroe Hospital Hospice in Monroe, WI, on Sept 7, 2022.  The Lord called her home after a day of quiet comfort with her children and grandchildren, spent outside under a blue sky with birds singing and gentle breezes.

Dottie was born December 19th, 1932 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York City to Agnes Ciesinska (Schubis) and Sigmund Przybyszewski (Ziggy Schubis).  She met John (Jack) Evangelist Walsh at a party in 1956 and were married 6 months later; staying together for 58 years until Jack's passing.   They raised four children together while living in Dumont, New Jersey then they settled in Monroe for the next thirty years.

Dorothy had a contagious laugh that wouldn't stop, an inquiring mind that always needed to be busy, and a talent for cooking scrumptious meals.  She earned her degree from St. Joseph's College in Manhattan, NYC in Biology and also earned a teaching certificate as well as a certificate in maternal and baby care. Following college she taught Kindergarten in Harlem, New York City.

She is survived by her children John C. Walsh of Washington, D.C., Timothy Walsh (wife Barbara) of Madison, WI, and Ann Amanda Walsh of Princeton, MA, and also her sister Regina Morris (Schubis) of Fairmont, WV.  She has three grandchildren, Andrew, Eric and Katrina, and also two great-grandchildren, Elliott and Theo.  Dorothy is predeceased by her son Matthew Walsh of Texas (2013), her husband Jack (2015), and her sister Frances Schubis of Derwood, Maryland.

Dorothy had a private family burial at the Natural Path Sanctuary https://naturalpathsanctuary.org/  on Friday Sept 9th in Springdale, near Verona.

Her vibrant spirit will be missed.  Love you mum.

We welcome you to share your memories here on Dorothy's tribute wall.
