Stoughton- Dorothy Marsh, age 101, left on her final journey on May 9, 2024, following a life well lived.
In her words: “I was born March 25, 1923, in Minnesota (at home during a snowstorm) to Hjalmer and Anna (Matson) Peterson. I attended country school in Sebeka and graduated high school in Detroit Michigan. I did many jobs including office work, final inspection in an aircraft factory during World War II, housekeeping, etc. My favorite hobbies were reading, crafts, and crocheting (I made many afghans, baby blankets, and baby hats).
“I am survived by my son James (Mary) Ark; 5 grandchildren; great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and nieces and nephews. I was preceded in death by my 3 brothers, Arthur, Alfred, and Royce; my first husband, Elmer Ark; and my second husband Henry Marsh.
My wishes are to be cremated and my ashes buried in the Suokko family plot in Ironwood Michigan. There will be no funeral- I want to be remembered while I’m alive. Have a celebration with no tears. Play my favorite song, “Stardust” and raise a glass of beer… or two!”
It's hard to summarize a life of 101 years and what Dorothy meant to her family and friends except to say that she loved well and was well loved. We will miss her.
Please share your memories of Dorothy by posting in her Guestbook.
