Dorothy Jones

MADISON - Dorothy M. Jones, age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family at St. Mary's Care Center on March 22, 2015.
She was born on June 18, 1927 in Viola, WI to Stanley and Elizabeth Buchanan. She was Valedictorian of Viola High School. At Viola she met the love of her life, Richard Jones. They were married on June 15, 1947 and had 67 wonderful years together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Raymond and Earl, and 1 sister, Rena.
Dorothy enjoyed working with people through her various jobs over the years. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends. She especially enjoyed the family celebrations. Dorothy would always say, "Let's have a party."
The special organizations she enjoyed participating in were Order of the Eastern Star, and The Red Hat Society.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Stephen (Diane) Jones of Bakersfield, CA; daughters, Barbara (James Stanley) Meyers of Phillips, WI, and Linda Jones of Madison, WI. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25th, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI 53705 from 9 - 11 am. Service will be at 11 am with lunch to follow. Burial will be the following day in Viola, WI.
The family would like to thank St. Mary's Care Center for the exceptional, loving care. Also thanks to friends and neighbors for all their help and support. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara and Dave Houlihan, devoted friends and neighbors to Dorothy for over 20 years.
