In Loving Memory
Dorothy Lucille Day, age 92 passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Agrace Hospice with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 25, 1922 in Madison, Wisconsin the daughter of Julia (Kjorlie) and John Rydberg. Dorothy was united in marriage to Stuart Day on December 24, 1945 in Madison. Together they raised four beautiful children. She was a resident of Madison all her life. Dorothy worked for Ray-o-Vac, Rennabohm Drug Store, C & P housewares and Safety Guard. In her spare time she loved to quilt, make lefsa, collecting angels and doing crossword and word search puzzles. Dorothy was a faithful member of Lake Edge Church and she loved to help teach Sunday School. Most of all she cherished the time spent with her family. She was loved by all whose lives she touched and will be dearly miss by many.
Dorothy is survived by her three children; Dennis (JoEllen) Day, Kathy Krehl and Allen (Shelley) Day, ten grandchildren; Debbie, Diane, Dawn, Steven, Billy, Eric, Crystal, Holly, Nicholas and Kendra, 16 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild and a brother-in-law; Robert Day. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stuart Day, son Gary Day and his wife Jean, two brothers; Ralph and Marvin Rydberg and her sister Jane Capadona.
Funeral Services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, WI on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 am with Pastor Stephen Marsh officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of services. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Dorothy to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rest Haven Nursing Home, St. Mary's Hospital and Agrace Hospice for all their love and care given to Dorothy and our family. We also want to thank the countless visitors over the years, who took out the time to visit with our mother, Dorothy. This was truly a highlight in her day that she thoroughly looked forward to!
