Doris Zickert

May 17, 1923 — June 14, 2016

Marshall- Doris Mae Zickert, 93, passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2016. Doris was born on May 17, 1923 to Ernest & Sadie (Mitchell) Ward. Doris married Leslie Zickert on December 4, 1943 in Newville Wisconsin. They purchased their farm from Leslie's father John Zickert. Doris was a homemaker, farm hand and caregiver to her precious grandchildren. She loved to garden with her husband Leslie and can/freeze the fruits of their labor. Their favorite pastime was listening to polka music on the radio and watching polka shows on TV. Doris' greatest love was the time she enjoyed with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: Robert (Nancy Kramer), Ronald, Kenneth (Debra), Patricia (Patrick) Murphy, Karen (Jay) Fleury; five grandchildren: Kathleen (Scott), Brian (Rose), Kristine (Justin), Nicole (Kevin), Casey; three great-grandchildren: Blake, Lily and Avery; brothers and sister: Irene, DuWayne, Larry and Gary; sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Leslie, her parents, sisters Ruth & Shirley, and daughter-in-law Patricia.

The family would like to thank Pastor Martin Stuebs for his many, many visits to Doris & Leslie it brought them great comfort. Many thanks to Agrace Hospicecare for their support and care for Doris and Leslie & our family these last months. Thank-you to Senior Helpers and Nichole for their assistance in caregiving for Doris. Special thanks to Dianne for keeping Doris in curls and Leslie trimmed up while at home. Memorials can be made to the family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday June 20, 2016 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 138 County Road BB, Deerfield/Marshall. A visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service at church on Monday. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland.
