Doris Slater

Stoughton- Doris Leona Slater, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Stoughton on December 7, 1928 to Earl and Leona Rice. On June 13, 1953 Doris married John Slater. Together they had a beautiful 59 year marriage. Doris worked at Stoughton Hospital where she later retired after 37 years.

Doris is survived by her two children, Jane (Mike) Stobbe and David (Evon) Slater; three grandsons, Brian (Megan) Slater, Kevin (Sarah) Slater, and Michael (Crystal) Stobbe; four great grandchildren, Madeline, Brayden, Jackson, and Ava Slater; sister, Dorothy Nelson; as well as many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John; daughter, Judy Neath; brothers-in-law, Ralph Slater, LeRoy Slater, Pete Nelson, and Chuck Farr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at the Stoughton American Legion Post 59 immediately following the services. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Debbie Jones, the staff of Karmenta Nursing Home, and to all those who called and visited.
