Stoughton - Doris Venden Obrecht, age 79 of Stoughton, made her journey to heaven on September 24, 2012 to be reunited with her husband Jim, whom preceded her in death on February 7, 1964.
She went on to raise their 4 children whom survive, Julie (Bill) Kortte of Oregon, Steven Obrecht of Santa Rosa, CA, Gary Obrecht of Stoughton and Jim (Tricia) Obrecht of Stoughton; 2 grandchildren, Dan (Darcy) Kortte of Oregon and Ashley (Ben) Buschmann of Oregon; 4 great grandchildren, Willa, Loren, Brittanie and Brandyn; her 3 siblings, Joan (Ole) Holman of Edgerton, Carol (Don) Moe of Stoughton and Howard (Carol) Venden of Davenport, Iowa; 3 sisters-in-law, Lois Volla, Fran (Richard) Nesbit and Sharon (Jim) Lunde; 2 brothers-in-law, Richard Obrecht and Jack Lyon and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Doris was born on December 14, 1932 in the Township of Cottage Grove to the late Clarence and Edna (Anderson) Venden. She grew up in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School in the class of 1950. She married James D. Obrecht on March 28, 1953 at First Lutheran Church in Stoughton with Rev. Amos Stolen officiating.
Doris was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Stoughton. She enjoyed the activities and volunteering at the Stoughton Senior Center, spending time with her family and grandchildren and especially hosting family gatherings.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, Myrinda and James R. Obrecht, her husband, Jim, two sisters, Clarice and Betty, a brother, Bob, 3 brothers-in-law, Russell Volla, Omar Lee and Claude Smithback and a sister-in-law, Mary Lyon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Stoughton Senior Center in her memory.
Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Bill Lehman will officiate. A visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Doris will be laid to rest beside her husband Jim at Riverside Cemetery.
