Doris Davison

SUN PRAIRIE - Doris [Hein] Davison, age 96 yrs 6 mo 23 ds, began eternal life on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. She was born August 2, 1918 in the Town of York, Dane County, Wisconsin, and was one of six children of Edward William and Frieda [Dobberstein] Hein. As with many people of her generation, Doris received her elementary education in a one room school about two miles from the farm where she was raised, and graduated from Waterloo High School on June 3, 1936. Doris met her future husband at the Golden Lantern in Sun Prairie and would marry Herbert H. Davison on Wednesday, June 7, 1939.

In her prime, shopping and needlework were favorite pastimes. Doris also enjoyed traveling especially with a motor home to Tucson. Herb and Doris enjoyed their vacation homes at Crystal Lake and later Lake Jordon. Before having the vacation homes, many weekends and vacations were spent with family using a camping trailer at Devil's Lake or Governor Dodge State Parks. For over fifty years Doris played bridge with the same club.

Mrs. Davison is survived by her three children; daughters Judy Rortvedt of Sun Prairie and Laurel Wilson of Winthrop Harbor, IL; and a son Jack [Mary] Davison of Sun Prairie. "Granny" is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; David, Steven, Jeff [Kelli] Rortvedt; Erin and Mark Davison; Deidre [Alan] Olson, Jenna [Kreg] Knoll and John [Nikki] Wilson. The great grandchildren of "Great-Granny" are Allison and Ryan Rortvedt; Mitchell and Mollie Olson; Davis and Bryce Knoll. A sister Violet Geishirt also survives Doris.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Herb in 2004, her parents, a sister (Lucille Skaar), three brothers (Jim, Gene and Dick) and her son-in-law Arvid Rortvedt.

A memorial service will be held at PEACE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 232 Windsor Street, Sun Prairie, on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Luke C. Werre officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at a later date in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens.

Memorials would be appreciated by Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie.

For the last three years, Doris has lived in the assisted living part of Sun Prairie Health Care and the family of Doris extends sincere gratitude for their exceptional care and service.
