Doris Cooper

Madison - Doris E. Cooper, age 93, was peacefully called into eternal life on Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. Mary's Care Center, where she resided for the last six months.
Doris was born on December 13, 1920 in Norwalk, MI, to William and Alice (Evens) McNeil. She graduated from Manistee County High School at the top of her class. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a W.A.V.E. serving from 1943 to 1945.
This November, Doris celebrated 67 years of marriage to the love of her life, Raymond E. Cooper of Waunakee. Doris worked beside Raymond for decades at the VA Hospital. She also volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital and volunteered at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Doris enjoyed playing cards, sewing, baking and most of all spending time with her family. She was a Badger, Brewer and Packer fan.
Doris is survived by her husband, Raymond; children Carol Hansen, Raymond (Mary) Cooper, Terry Cooper and Joseph (Deborah) Cooper; 8 grandchildren, John, Raymond, Kevin, Ann, Kaitlyn, Reece, Kyle, Anne-Marie; a sister, Teresa (Hank) Neubert; a brother, Jim (Shirley) McNeil and many other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arden and Neil; 3 sisters, Dorothy, Mary Leone, Juanita.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 405 S. Owen Dr., Madison, on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 12:00 noon with Msgr. James Uppena presiding. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the mass.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Care Center for their loving service the last six months of her life.
Donations may be made in Doris's name to Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Mary's Care Center.
