Dories Neis

Dories S. (Klein) Neis, 96, of Madison, WI passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 7 at Capitol Lakes Memory Care facility.

Daughter of Walter Emil and Hattie Elizabeth (Glander) Klein, Dories was born in Chicago August 28, 1921. She grew up in the Palmer Square neighborhood and attended Kelvyn Park High School and Wilbur Wright College.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Carlos Neis, Robert William Haas her first husband and father of her children, and her two sisters, Muriel Eliza (Klein) Beadleston and Jayne Leonore (Klein) Bohm. She is survived by her daughter Juli Anne (Haas) Loker, her son Terry Robert Haas, grandchildren Robin Corinn Haas, Carrie Lyn (Haas) Barth, Aaron Daniel Haas, Martine Louise (Haas) Turner, Alexandra Jane Loker, and Emily Therese Loker, eight great grandchildren, and her nieces Bonnie Sue (Beadleston) Pletcher and Beth Lynn (Beadleston) Dahl.

Dories resided in the Chicago suburb of Itasca for most of her adult life, and was an active member of the Bethany United Methodist church. She loved and excelled in music and was a 50-year member of the DuPage Symphony Orchestra as 2nd chair cellist, and continued playing her cello until age 94. She also enjoyed nature, particularly birds and plants, and spent many happy summers with her family near the shore of Lake Michigan in Harbert, MI. Dories was also a talented artist and enjoyed painting water colors of flowers and landscapes. At age 87, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin and made a new home at The Gardens Retirement Community, being a "buddy" to new residents and participating in many activities. She was a member of Sugar River United Methodist Church in Verona, Wisconsin.

Dories was a loyal and dedicated friend and relative. If you were either, you were always remembered and always welcome in her home.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
