MADISON - Dorcas Rewey Volk, age 101, died peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2014, at home in Shorewood Hills, with family at her side.
Dorcas Rewey was born January 14, 1913 at the home of her parents, Jefferson Wiltse Rewey and Mildred (Temple) Rewey, in Rewey, WI. She lived in Rewey for her first seven years before moving to Madison in 1920. She attended the old Wisconsin High School where she met her future husband. She went on to the University of Wisconsin and earned a BS and MS in Home Economics Education. She was active in the Phi U Honors Society. She taught for two years in Evansville, before marrying Wayne N. Volk, building a home in Shorewood Hills and raising their family. When the kids were older, she returned to teaching at MATC. She was also an active volunteer. In her later years, she drew great support and friendship from the Heart in Hand craft group.
Dorcas is survived by her children Timothy (Ulla), Nancy, and Andrew (Alicia), four grandchildren, Andreas, Jennifer, Amy, and Abby; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in 1989 and her eldest daughter, Martha, on March 2, 2014.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 4th at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, at 2 pm. A visitation will begin at 1 pm until time of service.
