Donald P. Squire

Stoughton- Donald P. Squire, age 83 of Stoughton, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2011 at Skaalen Home in Stoughton.   He was born in Sun Prairie on May 29, 1927; a son of William and Mabel (Stace) Squire.   Don served his country in the Merchant Marines and later in the Army.   On March 18, 1949, he married Jean Nelson.   Don had a love for the land, and was a lifelong farmer.   He loved traveling as well, and traveled all over the world.   He is survived by his significant other, Mary Ripp; his children, Lynn Squire, Donald Squire, Jr., and Barbara (Alfred Kanzler) Squire; sisters, Bertha (Miles) Duckert, Edith Fillner, and Laura Moore; sisters in law, Carolyn, Doris and JoAnn Squire; and many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Jean; brothers, Leonard, Bill, and Harold Squire; and his companion, Shirley Christianson.   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at noon at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating.   A luncheon will follow at the Stoughton American Legion Hall.   The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 am until noon.   Burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery in Stoughton.   Memorials may be made in Don's memory to the Humane Society, or to the Salvation Army.   Special thanks to the staff at Skaalen Home, and to HospiceCare.
