Donald Skare

McFarland- Donald Skare, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home. He was born on May 7, 1934, the son of Raymond and Goulde (Andersen) Skare. Don graduated from Madison East High School and was selected to attend Badger Boys State. In 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was in the Occupation Forces in Germany. Returning home from the service in 1957, Don was employed in different jobs which included American TV, owner/operator of Specialized Antenna Systems, auto sales, interior & exterior painting and installing window treatments in commercial buildings. He also worked part time at the Green Lantern as an overseer. Don enjoyed raising and showing St. Bernard dogs and belonged to the Southern WI St. Bernard Club. He also belonged to the Masonic Temple, where he was a Master Mason, the American Legion and the VFW. "I have lived my life to the fullest enjoying my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What more could I ask for?" Don is survived by his children, Mark Skare and Michelle McLeod; his grandchildren, Mariana, Dana and Brent (Stephanie Gould) Skare, Kelsey Bernt, Bridget Skare, Amanda (Josh) Pederson and Abbie and Molly McLeod; great grandchildren, Chloe and Frankie Skare, Dominic and Aubrie Berndt and Lilianna and Wyatt Pederson; and his brother, Dean. He was preceded in death by his parents; and special friend, Joy Reisinger. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home in McFarland, with Chaplain Greg Simonis officiating. Burial, with full Military honors, will follow in Upper McFarland Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, following the burial, at the McFarland American Legion. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 AM until the time of services Thursday.
