Marshall- Donald J. Moritz, age 65, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the VA Hospital, Madison. He was born on November 19, 1945 in Arlington Heights, IL the son of Edward and Dorothy (Chidley) Moritz. Donald was united in marriage with Mellinnee Burris on January 17, 1970 in Charlotte, NC . He was a longtime resident of Marshall and served many years as a Village Trustee. In Marshall he was instrumental in the construction of Veteran's Park and especially the installation of the sound system which he personally did. Don was honored to serve his country with the US Army where he served in the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post, Marshall. Don was an aviation enthusiasts' owning and flying his own plane. Additionally, in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his ""Hog"" (moped) with his friends, and working as the sound reinforcement technician for the band ""Bad Habit"" out of Waterloo. He was a member of Bethesda Christian Fellowship Church, Madison. Donald is survived by his children, David Moritz, Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Carrie Moritz, Marshall; his mother, Dorothy Moritz, Wheaton, IL; his brothers, Robert (Joanne) Moritz, TN and Scott (Kay) Moritz, Warrenville, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his beloved wife who passed away on January 22, 2005. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie. with Rev. Ken Steele officiating. Friends are invited to call on Monday at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Bethesda Christian Fellowship.
