Deforest/ Waunakee - Donald "Donnie" Joseph Miller, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at St. Mary's hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Waunakee on October 13, 1932, to Norbert and Regina (Keller) Miller. Donnie married his true love, Carol Buhler, on October 14, 1954. He served in the army from 1952-1954. He was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church for many years and attended St. John School as a young boy. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 1951. Donnie spent many years in the family grocery business beginning at age 3 when he cracked nuts in his Grandpa Miller's store. In 1988, he received the Wisconsin Grocer of the Year award. He was very active in numerous community organizations including the Waunakee Volunteer Fire Dept., American Legion, and the Rotary. Most recently, Donnie and Carol were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westport. Donnie enjoyed raising his children and spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed attending games including the "Ice Bowl".

Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol; his two children, Bruce (Diane) and Jill (Dan) Vanover; his five grandchildren, Cory and Tony Vanover, and Haley, Hannah, and Hudson Miller; one great grandson, Dylan Vanover; his siblings, Ken (Rosie), Dick (Darlene), Jim (Hy), Betty (Bob) Raemisch; his brothers-in-law, Dick Buhler, Ed Buhler, Jerry Hill; sister-in-law, Ginny Buhler; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Regina Miller; his mother-in-law, Sybilla (Koch) Buhler and father-in-law, Edward Buhler; brother-in-law, Don Buhler; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hill, Mary Buhler, and Joan Buhler.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Rd., Westport, WI. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 until the time of the service.
