Donald L. Fornasiere, born January 13, 1933, died April 21, 2026, at age 93 in DeForest, WI at the Parkside Village Assisted Living Facility.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Fornasiere, Jr. and Clara Heiman Fornasiere Lehman, his wife of 65 years Mureil Moore Fornasiere and sister, Dorothy Fornasiere Peterson.
He is survived by his brother, Dick (Donna) Fornasiere, his three children, Rob (Ruth) Fornasiere, Susan (David) Suchomel, Karen (Tom) Budde, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Donald was born on his grandfather’s farm near Belleville, Wisconsin. He lived on various farms with his family, eventually helping with the family milk transport business and graduated from Poynette High School in 1951. He became a draftsman at Gisholt Machine Tool Company in Madison in 1952 and worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Gisholt and Gilman Engineering (Janesville, WI) until his retirement in 1996. Donald was a devoted father and husband and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. While living in Sun Prairie, WI, he served as a City Alderman and President of the Sun Prairie Little League. He was a passionate fan of auto racing, the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badger Football. In retirement years he served on the Rome, WI, Town Board and enjoyed living and boating on Lake Camelot, in addition to river trips on the Mississippi. Donald demonstrated his honesty, loyalty, and common sense through his leadership in his community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday May 22, 2026 at the Cress Funeral Home in Sun Prairie. Visitation is from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Service is at 12:00 with a luncheon following. Private internment will be at the Sun Prairie Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Lake Camelot Property Owners Association.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkside Assisted Living and Brighton Hospice for their care and support.
