Donald (Don) Richard Foellmi passed away at his home in Madison, WI on April 29, 2026, at the age of 96. Don was born in Sparta, WI, on December 16, 1929, to John and Dora Amelia Oliver Foellmi. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in active and reserve status. He attended schools in the Sparta area and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He married Barbara LaVon Graham on June 7, 1958, in Madison, WI. He was employed as a Railroad Investigator and Hearing Examiner with the State of Wisconsin Railroad Commission, retiring in 1993. Don and Barb spent their retirement years sightseeing in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland, enjoying motorcycling throughout the U.S. with friends, and enjoying the peace and quiet of their rural property in Grant County. Time spent with his family was always cherished.
Gone before him are his wife Barbara, parents, and siblings Arlene (Don, dec.) Isensee, Albert (Florence, dec.) Foellmi, Frances (Victor, dec.) Muller, Gladys (Lloyd, dec.) Niedfeldt, Gertrude (Bernie, dec.) Suhr, Norman (Lorraine, dec.) Foellmi, sister-in-law Betsy Graham (Don, dec.) Quam, and brother-in-law William Bruce (Bill) Graham.
He is survived by his dear sons John Graham and Steven Richard, and precious granddaughter, Paige LaVon Foellmi (John’s daughter). He is also survived by brother Phillip Foellmi and sisters Ruth (Roger, dec.) Jerome, and Joan (Howard [Boots], dec.) Teasdale, and many relatives.
Both Donald and Barbara Foellmi are now deceased. In a private family gathering, invitation only, Donald and Barbara will be laid to rest side by side at Forest Hill Cemetery, Speedway Road, Madison, WI. The family would like to thank Father’s Helpers for the caregivers who provided home care for Donald, but the family would like to especially thank the Heartland Hospice team for their care and kindness in the completion of the circle of life.
