Donald Ballweg

MIDDLETON/WAUNAKEE-Donald "Don" Ballweg, age 76, died on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on May 21, 1938, in the Town of Berry to Joseph and Mary (Bong) Ballweg. He married Helen Eckstein on April 24, 1958. Don was a very hard worker all of his life. He worked at Oscar Mayer and drove combine for Tom Helt for many years, something he looked forward to doing every fall. For the past 28 years, Don fought Parkinson's with great strength and courage.

Don is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Carrie (Bob) Zoladz; four sons, Rick (Judy), Steve (Janet), Rod (Janet), and Scott (Laura); 16 grandchildren, Brandon (Sebrina), Kirsten, Ted, Joe (Sarah), Robbie, Bridget (Mark), Nick, Keith (Rachel), Allen (Nicole), Justin (Ashley), Chris, Ryan, Matt, Samantha, Austin, and Tanner; three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Jack, Huckley; a brother, Jerome (Carrie); and his in-laws, Mary Lybek and Dorothy (Jerry) Pertzborn. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Regina Eckstein and John Eckstein; and his brother-in-law, Willie Eckstein.

The family would like to thank the Agrace HospiceCare staff for their great care and compassion. A special thank you to Fr. Brian, Fr. John and Fr. Jim for all their visits. Thank you to both Janets for all the extra help given with appointments and time spent helping with Dad. Many thanks to our special friends, Ron and Helen Meinholz for all you've done. Thank you to all the grandkids for your support and visits. Most of all, we kids would like to thank our Mom for all the loving years of care she gave to Dad.

Funeral services will be held at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 County Trunk K, Ashton, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. Rev. Brian Dulli will officiate. Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
