Madison - Dolores Ohlert, 74, passed away Thursday, May 4th at University Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was born on April 1, 1944 in Prairie du Chien, WI, to James and Fern (Ocenosak) Ohlert. After elementary school at St. Mary of the Angels in Green Bay, WI, she entered the convent in the Order of the Sisters of St Joseph and taught parochial school for several years. In the early 70s, Dolores moved to San Francisco where she spent a number of years working in banking and finance, before making the transition to operating her own baking and catering business until she returned to Green Bay to care for her ailing mother. Upon her mother's death, Dolores moved to Madison, where she cared for Grace Burke for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Fern. Dolores is survived by two brothers, Tom (Reggina Wisdom) and Mike (Rose); and three sisters, Jane Ohlert, Kay (Ohlert) Mick and Rita (Bob) Holden. The family would like to thank the staff at UW Carbone Cancer Center, especially Dr. Sima Ehsani Chimeh, Dr. Robert Hegeman, Nurse Practitioner Karen Huseby-Moore and all the chemo nurses who helped Dolores with her cancer battle. Services will be held at Cress Funeral home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison with visitation beginning at 1pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dolores's memory to UW Carbone Cancer Center, 600 Highland Ave. K4/658, Madison, WI 53792-6164 (envelopes will also be provided at the funeral home).
