Madison-Dolores Hoback Kanner, died peacefully at home on Nov. 27, 2013 after a long and difficult battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on Dec. 10, 1931 in Wytheville, Virginia to R.N. and Delena Hoback. She graduated from Longwood Virginia, College in 1952 and taught science in Virginia, Maryland, and Wisconsin schools.
In 1954, she married Al Kanner at the University of Virginia Mt. Lake Biological Station where they met.
She is survived by her husband, Al, and four children - Sue, Jim, Steve, and Jeff and eight grandchildren.
Dolores was active in the community, serving leadership roles in several organizations. She was an avid tennis player for many years, loved to travel and especially activities with her family.
Special thanks to her care givers at Dean Clinic and Oncology and to Agrace Hospice for their devoted in-home care.
Memorial donations may be made to First Unitarian Society Music Fund, Agrace Hospice or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 8th, 2013 at the First Unitarian Society of Madison, 900 University Bay Drive with a reception to follow.
