Stoughton/Watertown- Dolores Virginia (Loftus) Johnson, age 90, Watertown, WI passed away October 8th 2015 at North Ridge Health & Rehab, New Hope, MN.
She was born in Stoughton, WI, March 24th 1925 to Knut & Anna Loftus, graduated from Stoughton H.S., received her bachelors degree from the UW Whitewater and taught school in Hammond IN until she married Donald Richard Johnson and settled in Watertown WI. She resumed teaching 2nd grade in 1965, first at Lincoln then Webster Elementary Schools and was an active Circle Member at Emanuel Lutheran Church.
A devoted mom, she was a Den Mother when Jeff was in Cub Scouts. She could play any song by ear on the piano. She was an avid golfer, and bridge player. She loved to travel, spend time with family and friends and is remembered for her sense of humor, good natured teasing, strong Norwegian coffee and a perfect Brandy Manhattan.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jeff & Kathryn, Plymouth MN, three grand-daughters, Marnie Walden (Jason), Bloomington MN, Abbey Parker (Troy), Hopkins, MN, Haley Nienow (Anthony), Omokoroa, New Zealand & seven great grandchildren, Lydia, Meredith & Victoria Walden, Cameryn & Cassius Parker, Noah & Lauren Nienow, sister-in-law Dorothy Loftus & 15 nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Obert (Mable), Kennerd (Ellenor), and Milo; sister, Arlene Quandahl; brothers-in-law, Victor Sundt, Howard Quandahl, and Alan Sundt; nephew, Donald; sister-in-law, Betty (Johnson) Kowing; and close friend, John Myrold.
Services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W Prospect St. Stoughton, WI. Visitation is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, service at 1:00 PM followed by the burial.
